What to know about asphalt?

Cold Asphalt

Cold asphalt is more like a temporary fix for a road or a pothole.

If you just want to fix something quickly, you fill it and then compact it.

It works, but it won’t last long — it’s only for short-term repairs.

Hot Asphalt

Hot asphalt lasts much longer than cold.

The name comes from the way it’s heated — up to about 200°C.

Then it gets filled into the road and compacted properly.

This gives you a stronger repair that holds up better over time.

Hot Asphalt + Asphalt Binder Sealer

With this one, you still heat your hot asphalt, fill it, and compact it.

But then you add an asphalt sealer on top.

This helps stop water from getting in anywhere, so it’s safer and gives extra protection.

It helps prevent new damage, especially from rain and moisture.

My Choice

I would say hot asphalt is good for road work because it gives more peace of mind.

And hot asphalt + asphalt sealer is also a good choice, because you are taking extra steps to stop water from coming into the asphalt.
